From France we crossed the border into Switzerland on an insanely hot day, it was on this day that the car’s nickname ‘the sweat box’ really came into its own. We were not able put the roof down as there was a storm and it was like driving in a sauna. From the border crossing, and paying €33 for the vignette, we made our way to lake Lucerne. We stopped off in Lucerne for a few hours and had a good walk around seeing the local sights before making our way to our hotel for the night about an hour from Lucerne at the south end of the lake. We drove through more stormy weather and J spotted a lovely restaurant on the river bank where we had a wonderful dinner.
As we arrived at our hotel in the night we could not properly see the surroundings, so I was overjoyed in the morning to see what an incredibly beautiful place we were in. We had the most fantastic breakfast of fresh coffee, local breads, ham and cheese overlooking what I believe to be the best view I have ever seen! I fell in love with this location and it was the most tranquil and beautiful places I have ever been to!
