From Sauris we drove to Trieste where we had a break for lunch and much needed cold drink, as it was a scorching day! Then we hit the road again and drove the the Croatian border. As we crossed over we saw the new EU sign and flag proudly showing off Croatia’s new status within Europe as the lady customs official shrugged us into the country as she filed her nails. Now in Istria, we stopped of in Motovun to check out the Film Festival, have another (many) cold drinks and walk the battlements. Finally we drove on down the coast road until we reached Sveti Juraj where we had a pizza by the sea and slept in a rented apartment overlooking the sea.
