To top-off a great weekend with friends we went in search of a good sunday brunch in Grand Canal and decided to try Herbstreet. This place does it all, breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. But most importantly they did brunch on the weekend from 10am-4pm which was great for us late risers!
The brunch menu had everything you would hope for from a full cooked breakfast to american style pancakes with toppings of bacon, eggs, fruit, smoked salmon, sausage, maple syrup and much more! Other appealing dishes were the turkey burger, eggs florentine and the sweet potato wedges with an avocado mouse and chipole dip. The Herbstreet menu lets you know about the local produce that they use and their website has lots of details on how they are trying to minimise their carbon footprint. They also cater for gluten free and celiacs.
I really liked the buzzy atmosphere inside (you can sit outside weather permitting), the chairs were very comfortable and it was a really great spot to relax with friends on a sunday, eat yummy food and look out over the canal. My only disappointment was that the coffee was not good at all. I have had such great coffee in Dublin that it is such a shame they do not use a better make of coffee as it is the only negative to this otherwise great place! It was so good we went back the following weekend so I could have more pancakes!!!
