After a wonderful few days in London J whisked me off on an anniversary surprise trip! I didn’t know where we were going until we were on our way to the airport and I was very happy to find out that we were off to Prague. I had not been to Prague for about ten years since my brother lived there for a while, so I was excited to explore the city again.
We had a bit of a treat on the plane and instead of eating plane food we had the leftovers from Claridge’s Afternoon Tea which was delicious and much better than a cheese sandwich!!!
In keeping with the surprise, J organised for us to be chauffeured from the airport to the hotel which was such a fun luxury and I got my first glimpse of the city lit up at night. J had booked us into the Mamaison Suite Hotel Pachtuv Palace which is right next to the Charles Bridge. We were upgraded to a suit and had more room than we knew what to do with. I really liked the hotel as it was located in a quiet area but close to everything we wanted to get to and it looked out over the river.
The next morning we set of from the hotel for a day of exploring Prague. We started off by walking over the Charles Bridge in glorious sunshine and made our way to the Prague Castle. We stopped off for a coffee, orange juice and patisserie and ate on the move.
We explored the St. Vitus Cathederal and watched the changing of the guard before heading back over the bridge to see the Rudolfinum and see what classical music would be on during our stay. It was also a wonderful spot to soak up the sun!
After our walk about we headed further into the centre of town for lunch and opted for good old Macdonalds, which was becoming a bit of an anniversary tradition, we couldn’t say no to it after we saw that the Czech Macdonalds has a deal for 4 cheeseburgers that works out less that buying two!
Then the real reason for our trip to Prague became clear, we were off to Moser to pick out our wedding gift list on the exact day of our wedding in a year’s time. Visiting the Moser store was wonderful, it is a beautiful and very large shop spanning the entire first floor of a gorgeous old building. We spent a long time carefully looking at everything and chatting with staff about various possibilities for glass, colour, gilding etc. The Moser staff treated us superbly and it was a pleasure to make a wedding gift list with them and they made the experience very special!
When we were all done at Moser we had a few more hours of daylight to walk around the city and we made our way through the tourist packed streets and ended up at The Four Seasons Hotel for a quick hot drink by the river before we headed off to the theatre to watch the ballet (another surprise from J!)
We had tickets to see Cinderella at The National Theatre, which is a stunning building and a gorgeous theatre! The ballet itself was a little modern for my taste but I still enjoyed it a lot and it was the perfect thing to do on our anniversary evening!
